In the summer of 2015 Houston and Judith Haugo, owners of the Dakota Thunder Shire Hitch, submitted an application to the 2016 Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena California. Low and behold, their application was accepted! At the Murray County Draft Horse Show in Slayton Minnesota on July 11 and 12, 2015, Keith Tongen, the show announcer told the crowd, "Dakota Thunder will be in the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, CA on January 1, 2016". The announcement prompted the news to appear in the Worthington Daily Globe and the Murray County News. From there, the excitement started to build!
